This summary button is great for long emails. It is powered by Gemini and is already present in the web version of his Gmail and can be accessed by users of the Gemini for Workspace suite. So it’s not that surprising that it’s coming to the Android app.

However, according to Google’s support page, this feature only applies to email threads with three or more replies. Furthermore, it is clear that the Workspaces feature is primarily intended for corporate use.

On the other hand, this new button on the mobile app seems like something everyone could use. A button will pop up just below the subject line as shown in the screenshot above. However, this feature is still in its infancy, so tapping this button will not trigger any action at this time.

Still, this experience will likely reflect the same functionality found in the web version of Gmail, and users with access to Gemini for Workspace will ask gemini A button in an email thread. This opens a sidebar that provides suggestions for your next action.

In addition to it, To summarize this email: After clicking the button, AssembleDebug found another Gemini-specific option within the three-dot menu within the email thread. However, tapping this button displays an empty panel with no content at the moment.

Gemini has already proven its versatility and continues to grow, especially within other Google services, especially the Workspace app. We recently learned about Gemini’s influence on Gmail’s suggested replies for Android. Until intelligent summarization becomes part of the service, it’s just a waiting game.
