  • Marco Troper, 19, the son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, was found dead in his dorm at the University of California, Berkeley.
  • His family suspects a drug overdose, but the exact cause of death is unknown at this time.
  • A toxicology report is expected to be submitted within 30 days to confirm the cause of death.

Marco Troper, the son of former YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, has died at the age of 19, People reports.

A freshman at the University of California, Berkeley, was found dead in his on-campus dorm room on Tuesday, a school spokesperson confirmed to the outlet.

Troper was found unresponsive at the Clark Carr Campus student housing complex on Tuesday at around 4:23 p.m. local time, UC Berkeley spokeswoman Janet Gilmore told NBC. It was done. Berkeley Fire Department responded to the incident and attempted “lifesaving measures,” but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police sources told PEOPLE that the cause of death is unknown, but Troper’s grandmother, Esther Wojcicki, told SFGATE that the family believes the boy died of a drug overdose.

“He took drugs, but we don’t know what was in it. … One thing we do know is that it was drugs,” she told SFGATE. He called his grandson “loving” and a “mathematical genius.”

Wojcicki told the publication that the results of the toxicology report could take up to 30 days. According to CDC statistics, drug overdose deaths are projected to increase by 2.1% year-over-year across the United States over the past 12 months.

“He was everything I wanted in a son or grandson,” Wojcicki said, SFGATE reported. “He was destined to make a difference.” “It’s heartbreaking.”

Esther Wojcicki did not immediately respond to Business Insider’s request for comment.
