The 2024 Paris Olympics are just a few months away. Stars from all over the world will gather in France and do their best to collect gold medals and make their countries proud.
The United States is trying to win as many gold medals as possible, and basketball is one sport the United States hopes to dominate. But he’s not the only variation of basketball that will give them an edge this year.
3-on-3 basketball will make its Olympic debut in 2020, with the United States making its debut in 2024. A familiar face in the basketball world will be giving college basketball phenom Zimmer a shot at his first Olympic gold medal this summer. Fredette.
Fredette will travel to Paris with Team USA’s 3-on-3 team. He will be joined by Canyon Barry, Kareem Maddox and Dylan Travis. This particular group won silver medals at the FIBA 3on3 World Cup, gold medals at the 2023 Pan American Games and his 2022 FIBA 3on3 AmeriCup.
Fredette told The Associated Press how excited he is to represent his country on the world’s biggest stage.

“This is the way we wanted it,” Fredette said Tuesday of bringing the same roster to Paris. “I think that’s what USA Basketball wanted and what we wanted.”
Fredette was a college basketball darling at BYU in 2010 and 2011. He was such a genius that he was the consensus 2011 Men’s College Player of the Year, leading BYU to its first Sweet 16 appearance since 1981. After college, the Sacramento Kings selected him with the 10th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
Unfortunately, his game did not translate well to the NBA due to his size and other factors. His shooting ability has been consistent, as he shot 40.2% from beyond the arc, but the 6-foot-2 combo guard only lasted five seasons in the NBA from 2011 to 2016. Ta.
The same cannot be said for his time in the Chinese Basketball Association. Fredette spent several years in China starting in 2016 and was phenomenal there as well. He recorded his 73 point game and in 2017 he was named CBA International MVP. His 3-on-3 for men is no joke, but even at 35 years old, Fredette is a threat on the court.
The 2011 NCAA season leading scorer proved it by winning the 2023 USA Basketball 3-on-3 Male Athlete of the Year. Fredette will get his first crack at U.S. basketball at this year’s Olympics.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to represent my country several times, but the Olympics are on a completely different level,” Fredete said.
