Former Conemaugh Valley High School hockey player Brody George has been named to USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP).
The players who stand out in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ elite program will include 13 forwards among the 23 players who will be on the U.S. 17-under team for the 2024-25 season.
Located in Plymouth, Michigan, NTDP is a two-year training program for high-performance players. The 17-under team plays in the United States Hockey League, the only Tier I junior hockey league in the United States, as well as selection competition in the North American Hockey League and the Minnesota Elite League.
Each season, the 17-under team competes in three international tournaments.
George, 16, played in 56 games for the Pittsburgh Penguins’ elite team last season, scoring 29 goals, 30 assists and 59 points, according to online stats. His rating was plus-42.
In 2022-23, as a member of the 14-under Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Team, George totaled 36 goals and 65 points in 63 games. He played in nine games for Conemaugh Valley in 2022-23, scoring 14 goals and 18 points, according to online stats.
George is the son of Tim George and Sandy George. His father graduated from Bishop McCourt Catholic High School in 2001 and was a member of his 1999 Pennsylvania Cup winning hockey team.
