Forget about iPhone 16 — new leak is a big reason to wait for iPhone 17

The iPhone 16 lineup is still in development and months away from launch, but a new leak suggests that if you don’t plan on buying the pro version of Apple’s next phone, you might want to wait until the iPhone 17 launches. He says it might be a good idea.

Apple plans to offer LTPO OLED displays in all four iPhone 17 models starting next year, Elec reports, citing people who claim to have knowledge of Apple’s plans. LTPO OLED is Apple’s technical term for its top-of-the-line iPhone display, offering 120Hz of his ProMotion performance and his 1Hz always-on display. It’s currently available on Apple’s iPhone Pro models, but not on lower-end iPhone models.

It’s no exaggeration to say that this could be a huge benefit to iPhone buyers. Last year’s iPhone 15 Pro display performed very well compared to the iPhone 15’s lower-end 60Hz display. And in a world where users are increasingly turning to their iPhone screens to watch videos and play video games, faster updates are needed. Hopefully, the rate will improve and the overall display will improve.

But The Elec’s report, if accurate, also sheds light on something that won’t be available this year: the iPhone 16’s 120Hz display.

According to some rumors, this year’s iPhone 16 will receive a rather minor update, with internal improvements such as a more powerful processor and advanced artificial intelligence features. However, these reports also suggest that the iPhone 16 will not necessarily have a major design overhaul and that Apple has decided to keep the same display that it had on offer with the iPhone 15 lineup. I am. Elec’s report appears to support those claims.

But for those who don’t want to spend a fortune on an iPhone Pro model, the question arises: what to do? Buy this year’s iPhone 16, even if it has a less-than-ideal display, or choose to wait. It will take him another year to launch the iPhone 17. However, if the screen is important to you, the latter may be your only option.

Of course, Apple isn’t discussing its plans for next year’s iPhone 17, much less what it has in store for this year’s iPhone 16. But there’s mounting evidence that the iPhone 17 lineup could be one to watch, with a better display, more powerful hardware, and improved design making the iPhone 16 more appealing to many consumers this year. It might be a bad idea to choose .
