Ford and Allego, the ultra-fast EV charging network, have announced a new strategic partnership to bring chargers to hundreds of dealerships across Europe. EV drivers, such as those in the new all-electric Ford Explorer, will soon have access to his Allego charger, which provides up to 400 kW of charge.
Ford Motor Company ($F) is an American car manufacturer that needs no introduction. Instead, we will discuss Allego ($ALLG). Allego is a Netherlands-based EV infrastructure development company that currently operates and maintains over 35,000 charging points in 16 European countries.
In addition to vehicle-agnostic charging solutions, Allego’s portfolio includes proprietary software such as EV Cloud, which enables customers to monitor and manage their charging infrastructure.
Its partners already include the City of London, Break Point, and McDonald’s, but it just added another big name to its Rolodex: Ford Motor Company. Ford and Allego will work together to expand the former’s Blue Oval EV charging network to more drivers. All over Europe.
Ford strengthens European charging network with Allego
Allego ultra-fast chargers will be installed at hundreds of Ford dealerships across the EU, according to a release from the new strategic partner. The DC charger provides up to 400 kW of charging and will be available to the EV driver 24/7, regardless of Ford model or not.
This will include new customers for the new all-electric Ford Explorer, the first BEV model built for the European market (I still don’t understand why this isn’t in the US, but that’s another topic) It’s a story). Jorg Hoffmeister, European Head of Charging and Energy for Ford Model E, elaborates:
Ford believes charging infrastructure is one of the keys to giving consumers confidence in switching to electrified products. Our partnership with Allego will make the charging experience faster and more convenient for customers, encouraging more drivers than ever to consider the benefits of zero emissions while driving a vehicle like the new electric Explorer.
While Ford is opening up Allego access to all DC charging-enabled EVs in Europe, Ford drivers will also enjoy exclusive benefits, including preferential pricing when using the FordPass charging card and plug-and-charge functionality to speed up the charging process. You will be able to enjoy the benefits.
Once introduced, Allego’s ultra-fast chargers will work within Ford’s BlueOval charging network. The BlueOval charging network already consists of over 600,000 EV charging points in Europe alone. The companies say Allego fare rollout will begin across Ford’s network in Europe later this year.
