Ford has begun deliveries of its F-150 Lightning electric pickup truck in Europe, with the first vehicles being delivered to several units in Norway.

Reposted by Ford CEO Jim Farley with a photo. X On Saturday, Europe’s first F-150 Lightning was delivered to Doug and Angela, originally from Texas and now living in Norway. This delivery marks the start of the F-150 Lightning’s entry into the European market, starting, as expected, with Norway.

“We are excited to see Ford customers in Norway begin taking deliveries of the F-150 Lightning,” Farley wrote in the post. “Congratulations Doug and Angela. May his new F-150 Lightning serve you well!”

The news comes after Farley detailed Ford’s Skunk Works team, which is focused on developing new low-cost, modular electric vehicle (EV) platforms. The move also comes after Ford last month adjusted its 2024 F-150 Lightning production forecast to about half of its original plan as it refocuses on hybrid and gasoline-powered vehicles in the coming years.

“We will continue to scale production of the F-150 Lightning to meet demand,” a Ford spokesperson said. Teslati Regarding when F-150 Lightning production will return to previous levels. The company also said it still expects F-150 Lightning sales this year to exceed sales in 2023.

“The hard part of the public,” former Ford CEO Mark Fields said in October. [EV] He emphasized the concerns of automakers regarding electrification, saying that “adoption” is still a long way off.

Last year, Ford joined the other “Big Three” automakers Detroit, General Motors (GM) and Dodge Chrysler’s parent company Stellantis in a historic six-day election by workers represented by the United Auto Workers union. It also faced a weekly strike. After the strike, which ended in October, Ford reported more than $1.3 billion in lost preinterest and tax profits due to labor efforts.

Despite these and other factors, November was Ford’s best month ever for EV sales, up 2.7% from October EV sales and 8.9% year over year.
