CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Fire Department crews extinguished a large structure fire Wednesday night at the D & D Decks and Docks business on The Island, located at 15815 South Padre Island Drive.
Battalion Chief Robin McGill said firefighters were called to the store around 10:40 p.m. after a passerby reported the building was on fire. No one was inside the store at the time.
Store owner Taylor Floyd, who arrived quickly on the scene after a customer posted about the fire on Facebook, told 3NEWS he was lucky no one was working or inside the store when the blaze started.
“This will be a challenge, but we will get through it because we know the Lord is with us,” Floyd said.
No injuries were reported, but one firefighter was briefly treated for heat exhaustion, CCFD officials said.
McGill said there are no wildfire concerns at this time because winds were not very strong at the time.
The scene is still under investigation and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
