This is the third member of the upcoming Motorola Edge 50 family, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra.
We previously introduced the Motorola Edge 50 Pro and Edge 50 Fusion, and now we have the Edge 50 Ultra. It will be known as the X50 Ultra in other markets. Previously, it was thought that the X50 Ultra and Edge 50 Pro were the same phone, but that’s not the case. The Edge 50 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, and this Edge 50 Ultra uses the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 that was just announced.
Motorola’s Edge 50 Ultra features a triple camera setup on the back, using a 50-megapixel sensor that includes a 75mm periscope lens. This corresponds to approximately 5x optical zoom. There is also a laser autofocus just above the periscope lens. To its right is a triple LED flash.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra comes in three colors including Pantone’s Color of the Year
Motorola offers the Edge 50 Ultra in three colors, including Peach Fuzz. This is the Pantone Color of the Year for 2024, and it’s a color that Motorola has already used on several other phones, including the Razr 40 Ultra and Edge 40 Neo. The Peach Fuzz and Black colors have vegan leather on the back, while the third option has a more brushed finish. This is “sisal” and it looks like a light beige color.
Unlike the Peach Fuzz and Black models, the Light Beige Edge 50 Ultra boasts a continuous, one-piece back. Bright colors flow seamlessly from the back panel to the camera bump, creating a unified aesthetic.
We also know that the Edge 50 Ultra will feature a curved display with a camera hole in the middle, like most phones these days. Like other Edge 50 phones we’ve seen recently, this one also has his April 3rd date on the home screen. This means the Edge 50 Fusion, Edge 50 Pro, and Edge 50 Ultra will likely be announced at the same time.
Finally, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra should launch with the new Hello UI based on Android 14. Hello UI marketing materials, you can clearly see that the Edge 50 Ultra is black and the Edge 50 Pro is purple. This is Motorola’s new UI, and the company’s phones will also be getting their third year of OS upgrades.
Motorola didn’t release the Edge 40 Ultra last year, but they did release the Edge 30 Ultra (also known as the Motorola Edge X) in 2022. Its price was around $999, so expect a similar price when it goes on sale next month. .
