Germany: Local transportation expected to be suspended throughout March
90,000 employees at local German transport companies have been on strike for several days since 2018. February 26th – March 1st.
March 1st will see the most disruption. Check your local transit agency’s website for more information.
The strike was called for by the German trade union Ver.di. In addition to introducing a 35-hour work week, unions are demanding that working hours be limited to a maximum of 10 hours. It also calls for the minimum break time between shifts to be increased to 12 hours.
Spain: Renfe train drivers call for strike in March

There will be a 24-hour strike for three days. March 1st, 4th, 12th.
More strikes are planned for the day. March 6th 7am to 10am, 1pm to 4pm, 7pm to 10pm.
Renfe drivers, members of the Spanish Railway Drivers Union (Semaf), called for the suspension. They are striking over non-compliance with contract provisions regarding working hours and the freezing of employment plans.
A rail strike in Spain in February saw hundreds of trains suspended, but minimal service continues. Spanish law requires that a minimum level of service be maintained.
UK: London Underground workers call for multi-day strike
London Overground strike takes place March 4th-5thUnion RMT announced.
The 48-hour strike by security guards, station staff and revenue management staff came after RMT members refused to offer wages below inflation.
Members of the Aslef trade union called for a strike and a ban on overtime earlier this month.
The strike affected several different operators including Avanti West Coast, Cross Country, East Midlands Railway, West Midlands Trains, GTR, LNER, Southeastern, SWR and TransPennine Trains.
Train drivers have been in a long-running dispute over pay, with their salaries not increasing for five years.
France: 7-month strike notice could affect Paris Olympics
Disruptions are expected on Ile-de-France’s bus and metro networks as CGT-RATP announces a seven-month strike notice from February 5 to September 9.
Employees of the state-run public transport company claim they are quitting their jobs over pay. If no deal is reached, a strike could occur during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
