Foreign ministries of several European countries expressed their condolences on Friday to the families of those killed and injured in the shooting and explosion that targeted a concert hall in Russia’s Moscow region.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said earlier that gunmen killed 40 people and injured more than 100 in a shooting rampage at Crocus City Hall near Moscow.

“The horrifying footage of the attack on innocent people at Crocus Town Hall near Moscow is horrifying. The background must be investigated urgently. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” ​​the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Ta.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani told the X program that his ministry’s crisis management department was monitoring the situation following the attack.

“Today’s brutal attack on the Crocus City Hall near Moscow is a criminal act. The reasons behind it must be investigated immediately,” the ministry stressed, expressing its “deepest condolences.”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also expressed his condolences over the attack, saying it would have unexpected and serious consequences.

“First of all, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the people of the Russian Federation and the Russian leadership, with the hope that the terrorists who committed such terrible atrocities will be brought to justice, that is, arrested or liquidated.” , Vučić told broadcaster TV Prva.

EU spokesman Peter Stano said on the X program that the EU was “shocked and appalled by reports of a terrorist attack” in Moscow.

“The EU condemns all attacks against civilians. Our thoughts are with all affected Russian citizens,” it added. Spain also condemned “all forms of violence” and said it was “disappointed by the news from Russia.”

“Our solidarity is with the victims, their families and the Russian people,” the country’s Foreign Ministry told X.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred in Krasnogorsk, the administrative center of the Moscow region, where the musical band “Picnic” was performing at Crocus Town Hall.

Afterwards, there were reports that an explosion occurred at the venue and a large-scale fire broke out. The country’s Emergencies Ministry said about a third of the building was engulfed in flames and several helicopters were working to put out the fire.
