A family in the Romanian village of Shushora is living in a new house with running water, electricity and sewage, giving them a luxury they didn’t have before.

Youth and missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teamed up with the nonprofit Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for families in need in the village.

Over two days in September 2023, volunteers worked with the families who were to build their homes, erecting trusses, plastering, painting, walling, and much more.

Roberto Patrascoiu, director of Habitat for Humanity in Romania, expressed his deep appreciation for Latter-day Saint volunteers in a Jan. 19 Romanian Church Newsroom release.

“Your help means more than just building four walls and a roof. It’s a new home for two families,” he said.

Below are examples of how the Church and its members are helping people in need in Italy, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Portugal.
