President Donald Trump once again shocked Europe with comments suggesting he would encourage NATO countries that don’t spend enough on defense to invade Russia.
In this episode, we discuss the reaction in European capitals. Host Sarah Wheaton and her colleagues (Senior Paris Correspondent Claire Callcutt, Chief European Correspondent Matthew Karnitschnig, and China and NATO Coverage Stuart Lau) will discuss how President Trump’s criticism of NATO has affected EU leaders. We will check whether we can effectively encourage EU countries to strengthen their defense capabilities. It also zooms in on Budapest, where an unexpected political scandal ousted two of Viktor Orbán’s biggest supporters.
Then, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we’ll also talk about love. Our guest this time is Marjorie Librell, a professional matchmaker based in Brussels. She talks about the challenges of dating and relationships during the bubble era, as well as building connections in an era of political polarization and changing gender roles.
