Elisabeth Moss is trying some new things in her upcoming FX Hulu limited series “The Veil,” including an action star butt-kicking and an English accent.
And judging by the trailer for “The Veil,” released Thursday morning, she’s hitting it big with the first trailer. And her accent is almost convincing too. (We are children, we are children.)
In the spy thriller series, which premieres April 30, Moss plays Imogen Salter, a veteran MI6 agent with a talent for undercover work, who takes a seemingly vulnerable and desperate woman (Yumna Marwan) from Istanbul. He is tasked with escorting her to London. In the process, they play a “dangerous game of truth and lies” in which “one side has a secret and the other must expose it,” according to the official description.
The trailer doesn’t give any hint as to what the secret is or which of the two men has it. But it proves that the show is very trope-heavy (not that we’re complaining), with Imogen possessing incredible fighting skills and a knack for disappearing into a cover identity. With a loose cannon, she fights, kicks, shoots, and runs away from. From one end of Europe to the other.
Josh Charles, Dali Bensala, Hulk Bilginer, Alec Secareanu, Thibault de Montalembert, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, the always great James Purefoy, Joanna Ribeiro, Phil Langhorne, Dan Willey. , Aaron von Andrian, and Dali Bensala also appear.
It was developed and written by Peaky Blinders boss Steven Knight, who also serves as executive producer. Moss will also executive produce alongside Lindsay McManus under the Love & Squalor Pictures banner, as well as Dennis Di Novi and Nina Tassler for MA Productions.
