DVIDS – News – Combination of Corbias home tour and spouse-owned business market leads to success

FORT JOHNSON, La. — You don’t usually think of home tours and vendors markets together. But in the case of Fort Johnson Corvias Property Management’s Open House Home Tour and Military Spouse-Owned Business Market, it simply worked.
The event was held on January 20th at the Corvias Leasing Office, and those attending the event were encouraged to browse vendors’ wares and tour duplexes, townhomes, and apartments.
Corvias leasing consultant Michelle Rand said Corvias wants to support the military in every way possible, and by working with spouses, we can help military families in a unique way.
“They sacrifice so much. This event in particular was a great way to bond with the couple and meet our customers. Many of the people who came to the market were from Fort Johnson. I had never toured a house or seen one that had been renovated,” Rand said.
This event was an opportunity for people to do both.
Mallory Simpson attended the event and said she and her daughter Danny, 11, were excited to learn about the news.
“She wanted to have some little mother-daughter time together, and I think the market is great,” Simpson said. “I love seeing these military spouses come together to offer a variety of great items beyond what is available locally.”
Larriesha Legier runs Fleur De Leigh, a business based on embroidery designs and items. Leger said she attended a market event held at the Corvias leasing office and it was great for her to team up with them.
“Today was beneficial because this market gives me the opportunity to grow my business and connect with the Fort Johnson community,” Leger said. “It’s all about networking. As Army spouses, we’re not here for long, so opportunities like this are great for expanding your social media presence and business and finding the next one, wherever that may be.” It’s just another opportunity for you to go with us on a mission.”
Cody and Elizabeth Feuer were among the families visited at their homes during the event. They showed her two homes with different floor plans that suited their needs.
Cody liked what he saw.
“The extra storage space and newly renovated home is so nice. It’s the perfect space for us,” he said.
Mr. and Mrs. Foyer are civilians and plan to move with their family in the coming months. Corvias housing is also open to non-military personnel, including veterans, Department of Defense employees, and civilians.
“The prices are reasonable and much better than other products we looked at last year. Many of the homes we toured after installation were not comfortable, but these homes in Fort Johnson are amazing,” he said. said.
The tour and market event caught the attention of Cody’s wife, who decided to book the tour.
“This event was very helpful and the people were nice. I’m really looking forward to living here in the future. It seems like a great place to raise a family,” Cody said.
Land led the tour for the Whyers and said the home tour portion of the event was a great success.
“Our expectations were exceeded when it came to home tours and potential residents. We did over 10 tours and also met future residents,” she said.
At the end of the day, Rand said the event was a win for everyone involved. Attendees were able to view the homes if they wanted to see what Corvias has to offer, but even if they weren’t, they had a wonderful and unique shopping experience.
“What talent our vendors have…we were so in awe of their products. Our Corvias team has made new friends and residents. For the spouses who attended the market, the visitors provided an opportunity to make sales and meet new people,” Rand said.
The next home tour and market event will be held on April 27th. For more information or if you are interested in touring the home, please call 337-537-5060.
