As expected, the Phoenix Suns will have two players on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
ESPN reported that the men’s final roster includes 11 players, including Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. Durant and Booker were teammates when Team USA won the gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
Lakers forward LeBron James, Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, 76ers center Joel Embiid, Lakers big Anson Davis, Heat forward Bam Adebayo, Celtics guard Jrue Holiday, Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton and Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards will also be on the team.
This leaves one spot open on the 12-man roster, resulting in a total of 11 players. The Lakers, Suns and Celtics each have two players on their teams.
Durant is Team USA men’s all-time leading scorer in Olympic competition and has three Olympic gold medals. Durant, Booker, Tatum, Adebayo and Holiday were members of the U.S. gold medal-winning team in Tokyo.
Haliburton and Davis were on the Team USA team that failed to medal at the 2023 World Cup. This Olympic roster is a response to James’ disappointment when he called on NBA players to play in Paris.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr is the head coach of Team USA. Team USA announced the 41-man roster in January, selected by USA Basketball Men’s National Team Managing Director Grant Hill.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from July 26th to August 11th.
