“We found that kangaroos prefer to socialize in groups, but prefer smaller social circles. Just like humans, kangaroo personalities also emerge early in life. Mothers and their offspring are similar They have personalities and so do their siblings,” he says. “The kangaroo is highly socially conscious and adjusts his behavior based on cues from other kangaroos.”
“Difference leads to diversity, and this is evident throughout the video,” he says. “That’s evident when you look at the variety of dancers from different cultures and backgrounds.”
“I think it’s very important to respect diversity, and creating a video that explains the kangaroo’s personality was a great medium for me to do this.”
After immigrating from Brazil, Menario Costa earned a PhD at the Australian National University in 2021, studying kangaroo behavior.
