Disney Genie+ is set to be phased out from Walt Disney World.
Starting July 24, Genie+ will be renamed Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lanes will be renamed Lightning Lane Single Passes, but that’s not the biggest change.
Starting that day, guests will be able to book rides and shows in advance instead of waiting for the parks to open, as part of changes first announced in May 2023.
“Lightning Lane Pass blends the features of our current service with our previously offered FastPass+ service, giving guests the option to plan ahead and taking the hassle out of planning during their vacation,” the Florida resort announced Tuesday.
Here’s what guests need to know:
How does Disney Lightning Lane work?
The Lightning Lane Multi-Pass will include the same rides currently covered by Genie+, plus Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which opens June 28. A la carte Lightning Lane Single Passes will be available for each park’s most popular attractions, including individual Lightning Lanes.
But starting July 24, you won’t have to wait for your park entry date to book an experience.
- Guests staying at Disney World Resort hotels can select up to seven days in advance at a time, up to 14 days into their stay. All other guests can select up to three days in advance.
- Guests can pre-select up to three Lightning Lane Multi Passes for each day of their trip. Once they arrive at the park and complete their first experience, they can book additional experiences based on availability. Lightning Lane Single Passes will be limited to two per day, just like individual Lightning Lanes are today.
- Guests can also see prices and choose attraction times before purchasing their passes so “you know what you’re getting.” Currently, guests must purchase Genie+ before checking availability. The Disney World app and website will be updated to make planning and purchasing easier.
How much does Lightning Lane at Disney World cost?
Prices for Disney’s Lightning Lane vary by date and park.
There will be no price increase as a result of these changes.

Why is Genie+ changing?
“Our guests have told us they want more options to plan before they visit our theme parks, so this summer we’re making changes to our Disney Genie+ services and individual admission to Lightning Lane, along with new ways to plan ahead,” Disney World said.
Is Disney Genie still available?
The free Disney Genie planning tools will continue to be available for all guests to use to plan their trip — it’s the paid Genie+ service that will change.
Will Genie+ at Disneyland change?
At Disneyland, Disney Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane will also have new names but will continue to operate the same way they do now.
