Siri was introduced on the iPhone 4S in 2011, just four years after the release of the original iPhone. In the decades since, Apple’s digital assistant has made it easy for all of us to complete tasks using just our voice.
Whether you’re texting while driving, converting metrics while cooking, or trying to launch a white noise app while rocking a crying baby, Siri’s hands-free capabilities are a huge benefit.
Apple’s own documentation on what Siri can do is brief and doesn’t cover nearly all of the iPhone actions that can be performed with voice commands. For example, do you know what you can do now? Restart your iPhone with just your voice?

No more “Hey, Siri”
As long as you’re running iOS 17, you no longer need to say “Hey, Siri” to launch Siri on your iPhone. Just say “Siri” and your iPhone will start listening to your voice commands. For example, you can say: “Siri, set an alarm for 8 a.m. next Thursday.” — “Hey” is not necessary.
All you have to do is say “Siri”.
Ask Siri to read articles in Safari
Another addition is the ability to have Siri read out articles, short stories, and other web pages as long as they are compatible with the Reader View feature. If you’re not sure whether Reader View works on your web pages, tap the AA icon in the top left and make sure the Show Reader setting isn’t greyed out.
To have Siri read a Safari web page to you, say something like “Siri, read this” or “Siri, I want to hear this page.” You can change Siri’s speaking rate to make the voice assistant speak faster or slower by tapping the new Listen to Page icon in the top left.
Quickly find passwords saved on websites and apps
Apple allows you to save usernames and passwords on all Apple devices, including iPhones, through iCloud Keychain. On iOS,[設定]>[パスワード]to see the passwords you’ve saved for your Apple ID, websites, and apps, but Siri gives you faster access.
Just ask Siri “Show me the password for (app/website)” You will be automatically redirected to a specific password page within your settings. To view your password, you must access it using Face ID or Touch ID. From there, you can copy your username or password to your clipboard.
Restart your iPhone
If you’re experiencing a software issue, such as an application that keeps closing or the operating system lags, you can often resolve the issue by immediately restarting your iPhone. Simply press and hold the Home button and either volume button for about 1 second, then slide to turn off your device. However, there is an easier way to restart.

You can tell Siri “Please restart your phone” and say “yes” If you are asked to restart your device without using your hands.
You can also tap Reboot To confirm.
Turn off annoying alarms
Your alarm might be ringing and you can’t find your iPhone because it’s not nearby, under the sheets, or hidden in the couch cushions. Your iPhone’s alarm will continue to ring for 15 minutes if you don’t cancel or snooze it, but there’s a way to stop it using just your voice.
Even if your alarm is ringing loudly, you can tell Siri. “Stop the alarm” To shut it up. In fact, you could also say: “Hey, Siri.” This will also silence the alarm. Unlike the snooze feature, using any of the Siri commands will turn off the alarm completely.
Find family and friends using the “Find My” tool
With the Find My feature, you can track your own Apple devices as well as those of your friends, family, and loved ones. If you’re tracking someone’s location in Find Me, like a loved one or a sibling, you can use Siri to quickly find out where they are.
Ask Siri “Where is (contact name)?” small[探す]A window will appear at the top of the screen showing you exactly where the person is. Siri will also tell you how far away they are and the approximate address of their location. Tapping on the “Find My” window will redirect you to the “Find My” app where you can contact that person or get directions to that location.
Translate foreign words and sentences
In addition to standalone apps, Apple’s Translate feature is built into iPhone, allowing you to quickly translate between languages using your web browser or Siri from almost anywhere on your device, including in text messages.
You can ask Siri to translate a single word or an entire sentence using just your voice.For example, you can say “Please translate ‘My head hurts. I think I’m going to sleep’ into Spanish.” Siri reads your text in the original language, then in the translated language. If you want to hear the translation again, press the play button in the translation window.
Translation currently supports 17 languages, including Spanish and Chinese, but not all of them are available with Siri.
This pop-up appears at the top of your phone and previews both what you’re saying and the translation.
Set reminders based on your location
The Reminders app on iPhone is a powerful productivity tool that helps you remember what you need to do throughout the day, whether it’s making a call, sending an email, or making an online purchase. However, you don’t need to constantly be reminded of everything on your to-do list. So, you can use Siri to create reminder notifications based on your location.
For example, if you want to be reminded that you need to pay your internet bill when you get home, you can tell Siri. “Remind me to pay my internet bill when I get home.” A reminder will then be created. The next time you arrive home (which you can set in Contacts or Maps), a reminder will pop up on your phone. You can set your location to places like Target or your local park in addition to your work or home, but Siri needs to see your exact address.
Check directions to your parked car
Have you ever parked at the airport and lost your car? Finding your way back to your car can be difficult. Especially if you haven’t taken mental notes and are in a large parking lot or garage with hundreds of other cars. Luckily, your iPhone usually knows where you parked your car. All you have to do is ask Siri.
To tell “Please give me directions to my car.” Siri opens the Maps app and provides walking directions to where your car might be parked. Your iPhone connects to other devices, such as your car stereo, or tracks your travel speed to estimate where your car is parked.
When you remove your iPhone from your car, Maps usually shows a marker for a parked car.
