Democratic Party nominates World Central Kitchen chef Jose Andres for Nobel Peace Prize

Shortly after House Republicans nominated former President Trump for the prestigious award, Democrats nominated chef Jose Andres and World Central Kitchen (WCK) for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), along with Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Connecticut), joined the celebrity chef and his non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO). was nominated. In a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, he described his “innovative model” and “global phenomenon” by providing the world with more than 350 million dishes made by local people. He cited his influence as a

“During many dark and difficult times, Chef Andres and World Central Kitchen’s impact has been extraordinary,” the lawmakers said in the letter.

“Everyone was in awe of how Chef Andrés quickly led the effort to provide 40 million meals to feed hungry people around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic. ,” they added.

They also talked about how he helped feed the National Guard in 2021 during the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, and how his NGO provided hot meals in Kyiv at the outbreak of the Russo-Ukrainian war. They praised the government for distributing food kits and food kits. and the aid it provided to displaced Palestinians during the ongoing wars in the Middle East.

Andres is a Washington, D.C.-based restaurateur whose disaster relief fund has been providing financial aid during natural disasters, starting in the aftermath of Haiti’s devastating earthquake in 2010.

The renowned chef, who owns two Michelin-starred restaurants and several Bib Gourmands, has grown the NGO into an organization with annual revenue of over $500 million in 2022.

His nomination for the award comes from Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney, RN.Y., who helped broker the Abraham Accords, a formal agreement to normalize diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, and Israel. This was done immediately after he was nominated.
