Delete your Google Account password with “Biometric Authentication” on Play Store

Google is emailing Android users about upcoming Play Store changes to encourage the use of biometric purchase verification.

Currently, if you go to Play Store Settings > Purchase Verification and turn on the “Biometric Authentication” toggle, the Material 3 switch will be used and you will need to enter your Google Account password to proceed.

In the future, “you’ll use your fingerprint or face instead of your Google Account password” to confirm this setting.

Google detailed the upcoming changes in an email about “Setting up purchase confirmation on Google Play.” “In the coming weeks, we’ll be changing how you check your settings if you choose biometrics.”

The company really wants you to enable purchase confirmation with every purchase. To facilitate that, the Play Store has simplified the biometrics setup process a bit. There are three verification frequency options: Always, Every 30 Minutes, or Never.

In the email, Google said, “Be careful when storing children’s or other people’s biometrics on your device because they can be used to confirm purchases,” and “Don’t share your passwords with anyone.” ”.
