Welcome to another busy final session of the 2024 World Championships. Today is the fourth day. This means that in addition to all individual event finals and semi-finals, the relay will resume as a mixed medley cap final at the end of the session.
The plan for this session is as follows:
4th day final schedule:
- Men’s 800 Freestyle — Finals
- Women’s 200 Freestyle — Finals
- Men’s 100 Freestyle — Semifinals
- Women’s 50 Backstroke — Semifinals
- Men’s 200 Butterfly — Finals
- Men’s 50m Breaststroke — Final
- Women’s 200 Butterfly — Semifinals
- Men’s 200IM — Semifinals
- Mixed 4×100 Medley Relay — Finals
Things get started with the men’s 800 freestyle final, where the top qualifiers compete. Luca de Tullio, Daniel Wiffenand Sven Schwartz After their qualifying swims, the difference between them is just 0.43 seconds. On paper, Whiffen is my favorite of her three. He owns the European record (7:39.19) and is his SCM world record holder in this event. But there’s that too Gregorio Paltrinieri Lurking in lane 1, he’ll probably try to jump far enough forward that no one can catch him.
400 freestyle champion erica fairweather Top seed in the women’s 200m freestyle final (1:55.75).she sneaked past Siobhan Hoey She won lane 4 in yesterday’s second semi-final and is aiming for New Zealand’s second gold medal in World Championships history. Hoey showed he is in good form here in Doha, winning bronze in the 100m breaststroke. There are many competitors vying for the last spot on the podium, but these two are the favorites to advance to the final.
Alberto Lazzetti Leads the men’s 200m fly race by just 0.11 seconds Tomoru Honda, 1:55.09 to 1:55.20. Honda has been on this podium in the past two World Championships and is ready for his third World Championship despite reportedly racing with a sprained ankle. Looks like it’s done. The difference between his team in the top 8 after the semi-finals is less than 1 second behind him, so expect a close race with a medal possible from any lane.
Three 100m breaststroke medalists from early competitions –Nick Fink, Nicolo Martinenghi, and adam peaty The men’s 50m breaststroke is back.Surrounding 50 breaststroke specialists Sam Williamsonsetting an Australian record of 26.41 points in the semi-finals. Simone Cerasuolo He was the fifth and last person to break 27 seconds in the semifinals (26.98 seconds), but it looks like it will be quite a challenge for anyone to make it into that foursome.
