Registration is now open for the Carus Summer Science Camp, which promises an engaging and educational experience for young minds, the company said in a news release.
If you would like to register, you can do so online at carusllc.com/sciencecamp. The free camp dates are Monday, July 8th through Friday, July 12th from 9 a.m. to noon at St. Bede Academy in Peru.
Aimed at students entering sixth grade next fall, this year’s camp offers a week of exploration, discovery, and fun. Interested participants are encouraged to register early as there are a limited number of spots available and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Carruth Summer Science Camp is a highlight for students in La Salle, Bureau, and Putnam counties, providing hands-on learning opportunities in the fields of science and chemistry. Guided by a team of local teachers, participants will participate in experiments and explorations designed to spark her curiosity and passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
“Summer science camp is a tradition that is dear to our hearts,” said Lindsay Bliss, vice president of human resources and communications at Carus. “We have seen the great impact STEM education has on our students over the years, and we are proud to continue to increase student interest in STEM education.”
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that STEM occupations will grow by 8% by 2029, highlighting the critical importance of getting into these fields early. Additionally, a National Science Foundation study revealed that 80% of future jobs will require proficiency in STEM skills.
