Creative Europe offers important opportunities for the BiH cultural sector

Europe House, in cooperation with the Creative Europe Desk in BiH, organized an information day on February 27 on the opportunities available through the European Union’s Creative Europe Program for the development of the BiH cultural sector . Representatives of institutions, organizations and organizations implementing projects within the program, as well as representatives of interested citizens and cultural institutions, gathered at the Europa House in Sarajevo.

Adebayo Babajide The Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina emphasized the importance of encouraging artists and cultural workers and the resulting benefits, including creating new jobs, developing the economy and strengthening the creative sector. . “Arts and cultural activities have a great unifying force, remind us of our common traditions and play an important role in our society. We are delighted to have actively participated in the program and to have received over 4 million euros in funding for over 100 projects. It is important that artists and creators are supported and we are committed to the exchange of knowledge. We are proud to contribute and collaborate with local initiatives that support the presentation of various cultural activities to local, regional and European audiences,” said Babajide.

Creative Europe is the largest and most successful EU program supporting the development of the audiovisual and creative sector, with a budget of €2.44 billion for the period 2021-2027. By participating in this program, the BiH cultural sector will have the opportunity to learn about European Union policies, the work of European institutions, their legislation and practical application. Participation in Creative Europe and other EU programs has proven to be very beneficial for candidate countries in preparing them to take advantage of available EU funds.

Svad Jafić The Assistant Secretary of State for Science and Culture at the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s institutions and organizations participating in EU programs, including Creative Europe, are on full equality with other beneficiaries. “Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved great success in the first cycle of the program and is delighted that key cultural expressions have attracted significant funding. Our hope is to widen participation and, through new programs, It is better to move towards stronger participation in the “cycle,” Mr. Jafic added:

Cultural stakeholders had the opportunity to listen to the experiences of project managers from Sarajevo and Zenica, who have implemented projects for networking, international cooperation and capacity building of cultural institutions thanks to the support of the European Union. During an interactive workshop on the application process, representatives of institutions, organizations and companies active in the cultural sector showed great interest in learning how to find project partners, how to put ideas into context, which applications to apply for, etc. I got practical information.

Creative Europe invests in activities that strengthen cultural diversity and respond to the needs and challenges of the cultural/creative sector.
