BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A business conference coming to Baton Rouge aims to help small business owners succeed.
The Louisiana Minority Business Development Agency Business Center will host the “EmpowerED Entrepreneurs: Accelerating Success” small business training conference July 14-15 at the Renaissance Hotel, 7000 Bluebonnet Blvd.
According to the website, the Small Business Awards Reception will be held on Sunday, July 14 from 6 to 8 p.m., and the training conference will be held on Monday, July 15 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The conference is focused on providing small and minority-owned businesses with the right training and resources to accelerate their success. With over 20 sessions, there’s something for everyone to gain knowledge from,” said Charletta Fortson, Executive Director of LAMBDA.
According to organizers, key speakers will include Henry Coaxum Jr., former owner of 147 McDonald’s restaurants and now a New Orleans real estate developer and philanthropist, Nautisha Kurtz Glover, owner of NRK Construction, and entrepreneur Eric Porter, lecturer in the Affordable Housing Program offered by Southern University’s EDA College. Participants will also learn how to get the most out of government contracting strategies from Derrick Surratt, founder of the Federal Forecasting Application and an industry pioneer.
