Circle to Search may not come to other Android devices until October

Samsung introduced the Circle to Search with Google feature at last month’s Galaxy Unpacked event, which aims to give Android users a convenient way to search for information directly from any app. Nevertheless, according to a recent press release, it appears that this feature may only be available on some devices for a good part of his 2024. For the time being, Circle to Search is only available on Google Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung. Galaxy S24 Ultra devices, both are current flagships belonging to their respective companies. Google has not officially announced a release date, but a press release spotted by 9to5Google on the Samsung Netherlands site states that the possibility of extending this feature to other Android devices and models is closed until October 5, 2024. It has been suggested that this is possible.

Circle to Search will be available on Google Pixel 8 series and Samsung Galaxy S24 series starting January 2024. Circle to Search may be available on other brands of Android devices starting October 5, 2024, but is not in active development.

One way to look at it is that this raises questions about whether “Circle to Search” will be available not only on older devices, but also on upcoming devices such as Google’s Pixel 9 series and Samsung Z Fold 6 . The dates are certainly within a close range. If that date is accurate, which is when the “Made by Google” event is usually held, Samsung’s next foldable device will be excluded from the event.
This suggests that this date only affects non-Google and non-Samsung devices and will likely coincide with the release of Android 15. The decision to exclude other devices until October could be strategically tied to giving exclusivity to Google and Samsung’s upcoming products, including the rumored Pixel 8a and Z Fold 6. .
It’s worth mentioning that equivalent functionality is already available through Google Lens on all Android devices. “Circle to Search” is a faster and more efficient way to search what’s on your screen than using Google Lens, but it does have drawbacks in terms of current availability.
