  • Google has announced the arrival of an upgraded version of Chrome for Arm-compatible Windows PCs and laptops.
  • This browser has improved performance along with some built-in security enhancements.
  • Google is preparing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite chips, which should improve Chrome’s performance later this year.

Google is rolling out a new version of Chrome for Windows PCs powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips.

According to Google, this new variant of Chrome for Windows supports Arm-based devices. The company says this upgraded browser experience will give users a “faster and smoother” Chrome experience.

As users discover the upgraded browser on their Windows desktops and laptops, Google says there’s more to the browser than performance.

The post adds that users will be provided with strong built-in security and will have access to Google-generated AI features, extensions, and themes to decorate their browser.

Google has teased that the purpose behind the new Chrome variant for Arm-compatible computers is to prepare for Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite. The company says it expects the chip to significantly improve browser performance.

Commenting on Google’s new Chrome, Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm, said, “The new version of Google Chrome will support the Snapdragon X Elite as the premier platform for Windows computing starting in mid-2024.” This will help solidify its role.”

Qualcomm is going all-in on AI with its upcoming Snapdragon X Elite chipset, and it looks like Google is ready to join the effort. The chipmaker is pairing the X Elite chip with a new powerful Oryon CPU. This chip is estimated to achieve his 2x faster CPU speed and 4.5x faster AI processing than its competitors.

It’s expected that Google will continue to connect Qualcomm’s new X Elite to more places, namely the Chromebook series, to significantly improve performance.

Many of the other generative AI features Arm-compatible PCs and laptops are preparing to introduce include “Help me write.” Chrome’s AI update in February will allow Workspace users to use generative AI software called Experimental Writing AI to help draft text articles. Additionally, the user can use the information on her webpage to enable the AI bot to form responses to write queries.
