This summer, kids have the opportunity to get involved in science and learn about Santa Monica’s fascinating water systems through Heal the Bay’s Aquarium Science Camp.
Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to making the Los Angeles metropolitan area’s coastal waters and watersheds safe, healthy, and clean. This nonprofit organization offers exciting programs and camps throughout the year dedicated to inspiring a love of science and learning in students.
Aquarium Science Camp, running from June 24 to July 26, is a hands-on learning experience where kids can learn about the ocean, learn about the natural world, and get interested in marine science. Each week, campers explore different marine environments, interact with live animals in the aquarium, explore and observe beaches, play games, and become ocean stewards.
“We make their learning meaningful through digging in the sand, finding sand crabs, and lots of engaging activities that inspire a love of science and the ocean,” says Heal the Bay. said Kelly Kelly, associate director of aquarium education.
“We provide children with another opportunity to learn science outside of the classroom. In a camp environment, children are much more likely to be able to observe, ask questions, construct explanations, and communicate information on their own. It will be fun and engaging,” Kelly said.
Held at Heal the Bay Aquarium on the Santa Monica Pier, the camp is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Daily and weekly payments are available.
