Buchholz High School’s team won the North Florida Science Bowl for the eighth year in a row.
This year’s team includes James Zhang, Emmanuel Chan, Laurie Wang, Michael Wei, and Luke Xue, and is coached by BHS teacher Mark Moody.
“They have been preparing for several years, each specializing in one or two STEM topics and trusting their teammates to provide support on other topics,” Moody said in a press release. mentioned in. “Weekly practices and continuous evaluation of team dynamics were key to our success.”
The BHS team that wins the regional competition will compete again in April at the National Science Bowl® (NSB) competition in Washington, DC.
NSB is held annually by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science and provides a venue for students to demonstrate their knowledge and problem-solving skills on a variety of science and mathematics topics.
“After seeing their dominant performance at regionals, I believe they can do just as well at nationals as their predecessors,” Moody said of the team. “I am so proud of their work ethic and leadership. This recent victory gives us a glimpse of just a small portion of what they have produced and accomplished during their time on the Buchholz Science Team. Masu.”
