As a way to celebrate Black History Month, the Black Business Coalition will hold its first Minority Business Expo on February 15th from 4:30pm to 7pm at the Turner Theater at The Factory in Franklin.
The coalition, co-chaired by Robert Blair and Tara Blue, is part of Williamson’s Office of Economic Development and aims to address and highlight the unique needs of minority and black business owners in the community. It was launched in 2020.
“We aim not only to celebrate Black History Month, but also to showcase and elevate the diverse talent and contributions of minority-owned businesses. It is a testament to our shared commitment to promoting diversity and unity,” Williamson CEO Matt Large said in a press release.
The Black Business Coalition’s directory features more than 100 companies in a variety of industries, including fashion, media, and pest control.
“We are actively seeking minority-owned businesses to participate in the Expo,” said Tara Blue, president of the coalition. “Williamson County is home to a wealth of businesses owned by a diverse group of companies, and we look forward to providing a platform for them to share their products and services.”
Blue said the federation expects the Expo to draw a sold-out crowd. Organizers are already preparing to host more than 50 ethnic minority-owned businesses during the event, some of which will offer free tastings and more.
There is no participation fee. Again, registration is not required, but those who register will be eligible for a door prize.
