Vindyarani Devi, who competed in the non-Olympic women’s 55kg category, lifted a total of 196kg (83kg snatch + 113kg clean and jerk) and finished third in the ranking.
This effort fell short of the 203kg effort that won him silver at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
At the Phuket Games, Kang Hyun-kyung of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea won the gold medal with a weight of 234kg (103kg snatch + 131kg clean and jerk). Romania’s Mihaela Cambei won the silver medal with her personal best of 201kg (91kg + 110kg).
Vindiyarani, 25, failed in the 83kg snatch but succeeded on her second attempt. Her next attempt to lift 86 kg ended in failure.

On Monday, Mirabai Chanu competed in the women’s 49kg category in Phuket, finishing in 12th place. Currently ranked second overall, she is almost certain to earn a spot on the Indian team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Binjalani Devi and Mirabai Chanu were the only two Indian players to take part in the 2024 IWF World Cup, which concludes on April 11.
