It’s hard to believe that the Super Bowl took place just one week ago today, but the excitement of the game was surpassed by the horrific shooting of a fan at a Kansas City parade last Wednesday. There is no doubt about that. 22 people were injured (more than half of them were children). During the game, Usher appeared on the halftime show, and Apple shared a video showing what happened behind the scenes at the show.
Apparently, Apple wouldn’t have shown this video if it hadn’t been recorded using over 40 iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max handsets. Director Mike Carson said, “This was a game changer, especially given our documentary-style approach, as we had so many uncontrollable lighting scenarios. We were able to use it to retain a tremendous amount of visual information and data.” “That was the most important part of it. I was blown away by the final image during the color session. As a director who likes to be hands-on, especially when it comes to picking up the camera and shooting… “I didn’t have to overthink the gear and could just focus on what was in the frame and the overall story and emotion I wanted to evoke. The learning curve was small. ” Carson added, “as someone who just loves creating, no matter the size.” The results we captured definitely inspired me to pick up my iPhone and just shoot, so I’m excited to continue exploring possibilities and incorporating it into my process. ”
