Apple has set the release date for the foldable iPhone to be September 2026. Previous reports suggested that the foldable iPhone would not be released earlier than 2025, but no exact date was mentioned. More information is available in this regard.
Apple has already filed a patent for a rollable iPhone with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). A patent application shows that the iPhone can be rolled up, literally like an ancient scroll or manuscript.

It’s worth noting that foldable displays aren’t completely fictional. LG already has one, and CES 2024 in January saw another large folding TV announced.

Why it’s important: apple rival Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (OTCPK: SSNLF) already has a flip phone.
In fact, Samsung has already launched five generations of foldable phones. By the time Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to be released, Samsung will have launched its 8th generation of its Galaxy Fold and Flip phones.
Is it too late for Cupertino to launch a foldable iPhone in 2026? Previous reports revealed that foldable smartphones account for only 1% of smartphones worldwide. So this market is still in its infancy, and Apple may still have plenty of time.
