Apple is planning a redesign of its high-end tablet and is expected to launch an OLED iPad Pro model by the end of next month. There will be a number of changes at launch, but the OLED display could be the highlight of the upgrade. But it wasn’t until a few years later, when Apple introduced mini-LED displays on its 12.9-inch model, that Apple moved to his OLED panels. It appears that the company has already started developing foldable display technology for iPhones and iPads.

Apple is working on a bigger project, and its first foldable device won’t be an iPhone

digitimes In a paywall report, citing supply chain sources, Apple has been working on a foldable iPhone or iPad for five years. We’ve heard a lot of details about the foldable iPhone so far, but the report says the foldable will be a “larger device,” possibly hinting at an iPad. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard details about a foldable device from Apple, with the company previously rumored to be introducing the device from its iPad lineup.

The report also claims that the company is progressing from design to mass production plans. However, it is too early to conclude when the device will see the light of day. Apple has been testing device designs and form factors for years, and has taken a laid-back approach to maturing its hinge technology. Over the past few years, we’ve seen a number of Samsung’s foldable smartphones and how Samsung has improved the hinge technology for the Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Flip.

The hinge is the most important element that strengthens the folding display and therefore can make or break the folding device. Apple took its time entering the folding industry as suppliers struggled to meet the company’s quality demands and expectations. Recently, it was reported that the company transferred a Vision Pro engineer to work on the development of a foldable display, which makes it very unlikely that the company will release a foldable iPhone or iPad in the future. It shows that you are ambitious.

Note that the report only mentions that Apple’s foldable device will be a “larger device.” This means the company could offer this technology in its iPad lineup or introduce an entirely new product category. With that in mind, this report confirms past rumors that Apple has not paused development of foldable devices and that the company is working on the project across various divisions. It’s too early to tell, but Apple is expected to launch its first foldable device by 2025 at the earliest. However, speculation is based only on initial information, so take this news with a grain of salt.
