Apple reportedly wants features Android has had for years

According to some interesting leaks, Apple is reportedly finally adding new features that have been included in Android for years.

If true, this would add further fuel to the age-old Android vs. Android debate.

One recurring theme in this discussion is Apple’s seeming delay in releasing features that Android users have always had access to.

This happens all the time, and includes both practical things like picture-in-picture and lock screen customization, and technical things like higher refresh rates on entry-level phones.

Android users claim that Apple is just Apple and prioritizes its ecosystem over its customers.

Apple users, on the other hand, claim that Apple just wants to perfect the product before release.

Perhaps both have a point, but in this case, the additional feature stands out because it’s one of the things that many people don’t think of, but that some other users really want.

Apple’s home screen can be customized, but it shouldn’t have any gaps.

Most people probably wouldn’t notice unless they actively tried to leave gaps to organize their screens in a way that suits them.

And, at least for now, you can’t do that.

When you add a new app to your phone, it will always slide in next to the last app.

You can move them around and create folders, but gaps are not allowed.

Rumor has it that this will change in an upcoming iOS 18 update.

Apple and Android have always taken dramatically different approaches to user experience.

Android prioritizes specs and value, while Apple wants a seamless experience above all else.

After all, ongoing competition drives both innovation and improvement on both sides of the equation.

It also gives people the opportunity to write and read their “Top 5” articles, which is always fun.
