Apple. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has finally revealed the minimum period for which it will provide security updates for iPhones in compliance with the UK’s Product Security and Communications Infrastructure (PSTI) regulations.
what happened: Support period defined by Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max The company said in an official document that the supply period will be “for a minimum of five years from the date of first supply,” with the supply date being September 22, 2023.
This means that the iPhone 15 series is guaranteed to receive security updates until September 22, 2028.
Despite this, Apple’s security update policy is not the most comprehensive in the industry.

Why is this important?Apple’s disclosure of its iPhone security update policy comes at a time when the tech giant is facing increased scrutiny over its App Store fees and practices.
The disclosure of a security update policy that falls short of its competitors could further impact Apple’s position in the industry.
Apple’s competitors, including Samsung and Google, have made great strides in the smartphone market.
For example, Google’s smartphones, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, released in 2023, compete head-on with Apple’s iPhone 15 series.
Moreover, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series takes inspiration from Apple and Google, further increasing competition in the smartphone market.
