Apple has been slowly ramping up its AI efforts, aiming to partner with tech industry giants like Google and OpenAI. Despite developing custom-generated AI technology, the Cupertino giant is also interested in using technology developed by other companies. We previously covered how Apple wants to integrate some of Google’s Gemini AI models ahead of the big iOS 18 release later this year. A new report sheds light on the company’s plans to push further towards developing generative AI models with the help of a China-based company called Baidu.

Apple is working on bringing China’s Baidu to its generative AI technology for iOS 18 and iPhone 16, alongside Google and OpenAI.

iOS 18 is still in the early stages of development, and based on what we’ve learned over the past few months, the company is investing heavily in bringing generative AI technology to iPhone through a variety of means. Despite being a latecomer in the industry, Apple aims to reveal its AI efforts with the release of iOS 18 and its upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. wall street journal Apple has reportedly held talks with Baidu, a Chinese company that handles generative AI, to bring this technology to the iPhone.

The company is seeking partnerships within the industry and is encouraging Google and OpenAI to bring its generative AI technology to the iPhone. Apart from third-party technology, Apple is also spending a lot of time and money developing its own generative AI models, which will be part of various aspects of iOS 18 and the upcoming iPhone 16 lineup. It was recently revealed that Apple has developed generative AI technology that can edit, manipulate, and animate still images based on natural language commands, and this technology could see the light of day in the Photos app in iOS 18. there is.

If Baidu decides to partner with Apple and incorporate its generative AI technology into Apple’s ecosystem, it could potentially address users in a uniquely Asian region. Similarly, Google and OpenAI could serve Apple in the North American market. At this point, it remains to be seen what kind of generative AI technology Apple will require from Baidu, Google, and OpenAI, and how it will be leveraged. It is possible that the company will interconnect its technologies to create a global mesh, allowing seamless access to information from the iPhone and other Apple products.

In China, Baidu must get regulatory approval for its generative AI technology before partnering with Apple, and its Ernie chatbot is on a waiting list. Perhaps it would be appropriate for Apple to reveal its efforts to the world at his WWDC 2024 event in June, where it would announce iOS 18 and other updates. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more about Apple’s partnership with China’s Baidu. Do you think Google will agree to bring the Gemini AI model to iPhone? Let us know in the comments section below.
