Apple is warning customers not to throw their iPhones into rice if they get wet.

Water buildup on your phone can cause all sorts of problems, including water buildup on the camera lens, resulting in blurry photos, muffled or inaudible sound, inability to charge, and, in the worst case scenario, complete lack of functionality. problems may occur.

If you’ve ever had the misfortune of dropping your iPhone into water, you might think that your best bet is to put it in a bowl of uncooked rice to dry it out.

But Apple has actually strongly warned against this, saying that slamming your phone into rice to dry it can do more harm than good.

If your phone gets wet, your iPhone may flash a liquid detection alert. This means your device has detected liquid in the Lightning or USB-C connector, or in the cable or accessory itself.

To protect your phone from damage, you cannot use accessories or charge your phone until the connectors, cables, and accessories are dry.

If your iPhone gets wet, one of these messages may flash on the screen.

Apple warns on its website: “Charging your iPhone while the Lightning connector or USB-C connector is wet can corrode the pins on the connector or cable, permanently damaging them or causing them to stop working and disrupt your connection to your iPhone or accessory. Problems may occur.”

Not ideal, right?

So what should I do? First, resist the urge to dig a bag of rice out of your cupboard. Apple says this could make the problem worse.

Apple’s website states, “Do not put your iPhone in a rice bag.” “Then the small grains of rice could damage his iPhone.”

We also tell customers not to try to dry their iPhones using external heat sources or compressed air. Do not insert foreign objects such as cotton swabs or paper towels into the connector.

You might have thought that putting your phone inside rice was your best option, but Apple warns against it.

Instead, Apple recommends tapping the iPhone in your hand with the connector facing down to remove excess liquid.

Then, leave your iPhone in a dry, ventilated area for at least 30 minutes before using the charger or connected accessories.

If you receive the same warning, return your iPhone to a dry area with free airflow. Apple says it can take up to 24 hours to completely dry.

If you follow the advice above, your iPhone should dry out and return to normal functionality in no time.
