Apple is developing at least two foldable iPhone prototypes and one foldable iPad, but we may not see them until 2026 or 2027, according to a new report.
The demand for foldable smartphones has increased in recent years. Currently, Samsung and many other smartphone manufacturers dominate the foldable smartphone segment, but Apple is reportedly working on developing a flip iPhone in parallel with a foldable iPad.
According to a new report: information, The Cupertino-based tech giant is developing “at least two” Galaxy Z Flip-style iPhones. However, it appears that Apple has no plans to mass produce these devices in 2024 or 2025. That means the company may have to wait at least two years before announcing its first foldable device.

According to the report, Apple wants to develop a foldable iPhone with an external screen, but engineers working on the project are struggling to make it happen because it’s fragile. Apple also appears to be in talks with “at least one” parts manufacturer in Asia to source parts for foldable iPhones of various sizes. It hints that the tech giant is experimenting with multiple foldable devices.
In fact, a foldable iPhone isn’t the only device currently in development. The tech giant may also be working on the long-awaited foldable iPad, which according to reports will be the same size as the current-generation iPad Mini with an 8-inch display. Apple engineers appear to be trying to reduce the wrinkles that form in the center of all foldable phones, working on a hinge that would allow the device to lie flat when unfolded.
It’s not yet clear if or when Apple plans to introduce foldable iPhones and iPads, but recent reports suggest it will be announced either next year or next year.
