As more details about the iPhone 16 emerge, the latest leaked images confirm that Apple’s next smartphone will receive the biggest design changes.
Long-time Apple leaker sonny dixon Behind the latest scoop includes exclusive images highlighting the design of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple is expected to announce this product range in early September 2024, but we can see many new features today.

Similar to last year’s iPhone 15 series, Apple will be injecting specific colors into the back glass, including four colors: space black, gray, white, and rose. It’s worth noting that the resulting glass isn’t as strong as the textured matte glass back used on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models. Dickson’s image shows a machined “blank” provided to peripheral manufacturers ahead of the phone’s launch. These allow cases, holders and other accessories to be designed to the exact dimensions of the device and individual buttons. Naturally, we don’t know how these new features will work in software, but the hardware on display clearly shows Apple’s latest approach to the iPhone.
Action button for all models
Following its introduction on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, the action button is now available on all four iPhone models. Replaced the mute switch found on previous models. Many people continued to use the action button to toggle the mute/vibrate feature on their iPhone. However, this programmable button can be configured to open a single user-defined app or perform a specific action when pressed.

Introducing a capacitive capture button
The addition of a second button to the iPhone design has been leaked multiple times over the past six months. However, the exact design of the button and which iPhone models it would be featured on were in flux. No doubt Apple has created several prototypes to try out different options.
Apple is currently deciding on design and scope. For the latter, all iPhone 16 models will come with a new capture button to make marketing and developer adoption easier. For the former, Apple has decided to use capacitive buttons on all models. This means that the actual buttons have no moving parts and instead rely on a haptic-based “Taptic Engine” to simulate the feel of a physical button.
This is a secondary part of the UI, but if successful, future iPhones will have physical volume, power, and action buttons as Apple’s vision of a “portless and buttonless” smartphone gets closer and closer. will be replaced by a capacitive button.
Possibilities of 3D cameras
