CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Two-time Golden Globe winner Annette Bening, who recently received her fifth Oscar nomination, wore colorful costumes and costumes Tuesday as part of a gala honoring her role as Hasty at Harvard University. “I did it all by myself, without anyone’s help,” Benning joked, as she received a traditional pudding pot and began her speech by thanking her kindergarten teacher. Her husband, Warren Beatty, won the Man of the Year Award in 1975.
Pudding is the oldest theater company in the country and one of the oldest theater companies in the world. Since 1951, the award has been presented annually to a woman who has “made a lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment.” Other winners include Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Coolidge.
The festivities began with the Harvard University Parade. Benning, wearing a brown coat, hat and sunglasses, blew kisses to the crowd and at one point received a peck on the cheeks from a drag performer. Once the parade was over, she started can-can dancing with a few others.
“We are thrilled to be able to honor Annette Benning during Hasty Pudding’s 175th anniversary,” said Josh Hillers, president of Hasty Pudding. “Now that she has been nominated for the Best Actress Oscar, we are thrilled to be able to bestow upon her the most prestigious award in the entertainment industry.”
Bening, who also won a Screen Actors Guild Award and appeared in The Grifters and American Beauty, won her fifth Oscar for her role as prickly long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad in The Grifters. She was nominated for Best Actress. Nyad. ”
