Actor Angie Harmon announced Monday that her dog was fatally shot by a delivery worker in front of her home in Charlotte, North Carolina, over the weekend.
The former “Law & Order” star said in an Instagram post on Monday that a man delivering groceries to Instacart on Saturday got out of his car and shot and killed his pet Ollie.
“He shot our dog at home with my daughters and I and kept saying, ‘Oh, I shot your dog. Oh, I did it,'” Harmon wrote in an Instagram post. . “We are completely traumatized and devastated by the loss of our beloved son and family.”
Harmon said the man was not arrested because he claimed “self-defense,” but added: “There were no scratches or bite marks and his pants were not torn.”
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department did not immediately respond to USA TODAY’s request for more information Monday.
Instacart suspends shoppers
Instacart said it has been in contact with Harmon and is cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation.
In a statement to USA TODAY, the company said: “We are deeply saddened and disturbed to hear of this incident. We do not tolerate violence of any kind and the shopper’s account will be immediately suspended from our platform. “It was done,” he said.
The driver used a different ID, Harmon said.
Harmon said the Instacart driver used the identity and photo of a woman named Merle.

In another Instagram Story, Harmon wrote: “To the man who took Ollie from us. Your actions were despicable and unforgivable. It caused me an indescribable amount of trauma,” he wrote. . “The fact that someone could commit such a callous act is incomprehensible to me and I am shocked that I was not able to say goodbye to him.”
