ANDROID enthusiasts can look forward to mega Wi-Fi connectivity upgrades and faster 5G speeds on their next smartphones.
Qualcomm, which runs Manchester United’s new kit sponsor Snapdragon, has announced a series of major technology enhancements that will be coming to devices later this year.
The American company’s high-performance kit is already widely used by Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and others.
Our top priority is improving to enable the next generation of 5G. This means your data connection will be faster.
The new system, known as X80 5G Modem-RF, uses AI to boost 5G speeds.
But that’s not all, as Qualcomm claims to alleviate cell phones from other common problems, such as quality of service and coverage.
Additionally, it can also extend the life of your phone’s battery.
This modem also supports satellite communication, so future cell phones may have the ability to continue sending text messages even when there is no signal.
In addition to all this, the tech giant has been hard at work leveraging AI to take Wi-Fi to the next level.
Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 is expected to introduce greater compatibility with the latest generation of Wi-Fi.

Qualcomm’s main goal with FastConnect 7900 is to use proximity technology to make your work easier.

When will 6G arrive?
There is already talk of when 5G’s successor, 6G, will launch.
5G only arrived in the UK in 2019 and is not yet available everywhere.
Separately, 3G has only just begun to be switched off in the UK this year.
John Smee, senior vice president of engineering at Qualcomm, explains that 6G is still a long way off, but research is very much underway.
“So 5G itself started in 2019/2020, so it’s going to last until 2030,” he told The Sun.
“The reason these G’s happen about every 10 years is because a huge amount of accumulated research is embedded and incorporated into the next generation.”
For now, we don’t know exactly what to expect from 6G, but we’re sure it will bring faster speeds and smoother performance for large data-hungry products like cars.
Mobile phone networks are evolving. Rather than actually removing 4G and introducing 5G, the kit will be upgraded gradually.
Now, 5G has been enhanced to something called 5G Advanced, which offers much more capacity and coverage.
