For some users, a bug in Android Auto causes all voice commands for navigation to be routed through Google Maps, regardless of the user’s settings.
Android Auto lets you issue navigation voice commands through Google Assistant. The intended behavior is that these commands are routed through the navigation app you are currently using or have recently used.
But recently, some users have discovered that all navigation commands are routed through Google Maps on Android Auto, even when they want to use Waze or other apps.
This issue has been occurring for some users for about a week now. All voice commands, whether it’s Waze or other Android Auto navigation apps, simply return you to Google Maps. For some, the only way to resolve this issue was to completely disable the Google Maps app on their phone.
However, it appears that a revised version has now been released. Some affected users claim that version 15.13.46.28 of the Google app has restored the broken functionality.
Have you had any issues with Android Auto voice commands via Google Maps? If you had any issues or if it fixed itself for you, let us know in the comments.
