Additionally, the new design is collapsible, allowing you to view all volume settings on the panel or focus solely on the continuously improved ability to toggle media outputs. Apparently, whenever the app is playing media, the panel automatically defaults to its compressed state.
The new design will reportedly allow users to instantly mute the audio stream by tapping an icon, as well as controls such as spatial audio and “noise control,” which will likely work with paired headphones.
This redesign will not be applied by default in Android 15 DP2, but may be introduced in a future release. Google often saves big changes in new Android releases for the first beta release, which is likely to debut at Google I/O 2024 in mid-May.
