Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.1 rolls out, addressing tons of bugs

Google has just started rolling out the 2.1 beta of Android 14 QPR3, and its main purpose is to further enhance the experience with bug fixes. In fact, this patch is a fairly large list of bug fixes that Google failed to address in the previous update, Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2.

Google specifically states that this release does not remove all bugs. However, some issues that plagued previous releases have been resolved. For example, in Android 14 QPR3 Beta 2, some users experienced a launcher crash when trying to open the recent apps menu. If you use gesture navigation on Android, swipe up from the bottom edge of the display to open recent apps.

In most cases, this works quite perfectly, allowing you to multitask by jumping back and forth between the apps you’re currently using. Sometimes it can be very efficient. However, if the startup simply crashes, it’s all for naught. This is what was happening before this update. The official release notes state: “We fixed an issue that could cause the device launcher to crash when trying to view recent apps.”

Naturally, if you want to upgrade to this latest beta patch, you’ll need to use a Pixel device. However, if you’re reading this, you may already know this. As Google notes, the beta 2.1 update is rolling out to all eligible devices. Specifically, it’s from the Android Beta for Pixel program. This means if you have a Pixel 5a or newer (such as a Pixel 8 Pro), including the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, you can upgrade to this beta patch. However, you must opt ​​in on your device. Also, please note that this is a beta version, so it may not always work correctly. It’s clear from the fact that this patch is only intended to fix bugs.

In addition to the bugs mentioned above, Google has fixed various issues. This includes a particularly annoying bug that causes the Pixel Fold’s content to only fill half of the display when the phone is unfolded. Another particularly nasty bug was occurring on the Pixel Tablet. The tablet would sometimes not charge when connected to the dock.

Additional bug fixes include an issue where swiping up from the bottom of the screen would not always return you to the home screen. Not being able to initiate a gesture with a quick tap was another issue.
