It’s been about a month since Google released Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3, which brought bug fixes and some new features. Now, the company is following suit and rolling out its final major update to Android 14, which includes QPR3 Beta 1.
The release notes state that the third and final quarterly update is now available for the following Pixel devices:
- pixel 5a
- Pixel 6 and 6 Pro
- pixel 6a
- Pixel 7 and 7 Pro
- pixel 7a
- pixel fold
- pixel tablet
- Pixel 8 and 8 Pro
The tech giant says the update resolves an issue with the new Circle to Search feature.
Fixed an issue where Circle to Search was not available for beta users. This feature was inadvertently released only to non-beta users. (Issue #323331515)
Google also said there are known issues with updates related to the Assistant at a Glance widget. This widget sometimes seems to display information from the wrong location.
User-facing changes seen in this beta are expected to arrive in the stable channel by June as a pixel feature drop. However, if you don’t want to wait, it’s relatively safe to join the beta program for this update. As Google states, “Unlike developer previews or betas of unreleased major versions of Android, these builds are suitable for general use.” However, the company also warns: It offers.
- This release may have various stability, battery, and performance issues.
- For users with accessibility needs, this release may not be suitable for daily use.
- Some apps may not function as expected when running with this release. This restriction includes not only Google apps but also other apps.
- Although Android 14 QPR beta builds have not been Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) approved, they have passed preliminary testing and provide a stable set of pre-release APIs for developers. Apps that rely on CTS-approved builds or use SafetyNet APIs may not work properly on Android 14 QPR beta builds.
