Android App Weekly: New Apps and Games
Looking for new Android apps and games to keep you hooked? This week we’ve got two new apps and three great games worth your attention.
Potion permission
- price: $6.99, on sale $4.70
It’s becoming more and more common to see new Android titles that are simply ports of indie console or PC games from a few years ago. These ports are often a little cheaper than the original release and include special modifications to improve the game’s performance on mobile phones. Potion Permit continues that familiar trend, bringing an open-ended sim-RPG to Android for about half the price of the Steam version. The goal of the game is to become the best chemist by brewing potions and curing diseases.
If you’re looking for a mobile game with a little more depth than the casual free-to-play games that tend to attract attention, Potion Permit is worth a look. It’s also a faithful port with no major bugs and decent mobile controls.
Yet another premium port, Wytchwood is a crafting adventure game set in a gothic and fairy tale setting. In this game, you play as a mysterious witch of the forest, exploring strange landscapes, collecting magical ingredients, and brewing magic. Best of all, you can also pass some perverse judgment on the various fairy tale characters that cross your path. With a great story and plenty of challenges, this port looks to be as stable and fun as anything you’ll find on Steam.
I love the trend of high-quality Android games that started in 2023, and I hope things get better in 2024. That said, the game crashed twice for me, but after resetting it seemed to play fine.
devil slayer

From the game’s name to the design of the female character on the front, this looked a lot like a cheap Demon Slayer knockoff, but I decided to give it a try anyway. What I found was a typical idle RPG with a devil/demon theme that reminded me of one of my favorite animes, but had little else to offer. On the bright side, this game has good graphics and can be a huge waste of time. However, please note that this is just a Flash IDLE game. But at least it seems to be fairly bug-free and has a fun aesthetic that sets it apart from many other IDLEs. RPGs I’ve played, if not more.

T-Mobile has introduced some new benefits as part of its new Magenta Status program, which offers discounts on hotels, tickets, and more. To help you manage this new program, T-Mobile has completely overhauled its T-Mobile Tuesdays app. The newly rebranded experience still includes T-Mobile Tuesday deals and everything else you’d expect, but with a revamped interface and new Magenta status benefits. As you might expect, the new app requires a T-Mobile subscription and customers. You will be able to opt in or out of new programs.
Google Gemini
- price: Free with in-app purchases

As mentioned above, Google Gemini is a completely new app experience. We spent some hands-on time replacing the assistant, and we have to admit that it works very well in some ways. Not only is it smarter, it’s also more responsive. That said, this is still an early experience and may not be as stable as the original Google Assistant. Considering that installing this requires replacing the Assistant, we recommend doing so with caution, at least until the app has been around a little longer. Still, if you have a backup device or simply don’t use Assistant enough to care about its absence, this is a unique experience worth trying and has a lot of potential. .
