DAR to meet
The Sequoia Forest Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will hold its monthly meeting Saturday at 10 a.m.
The business meeting will be followed by a presentation about the Navajo Code Talkers, who created codes based on the complex, unwritten Navajo language during World War II. For more information, including meeting locations, please call 707-601-5005.

Celebrate Mardi Gras at Logger Bar, 510 Railroad Avenue in Blue Lake, from 7pm until close on Tuesday.
There will also be music by Dogbone and others. There is no admission fee.
trivia night
A free “trivia night” will be held Feb. 16 at the Historic Eagle House on the corner of Second and C Streets in Eureka.
Bring your team for food, drinks, questions, music, and fun. There is no charge to play and the winning team will receive a prize from Fatsy Cline’s/Historic Eagle House.

swedish pancakes
The Swedish pancake breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Feb. 18 at Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. Cost is $10.
Bird watching tour
The Redwood Area Audubon Society will host a free guided birding tour along the Eureka Waterfront Trail with leader Ralph Butcher from 9 to 11 a.m. on February 18th.
This relatively urban trail offers the potential to observe species richness and diversity compared to many remote locations. Listen carefully for cormorants, loons, grebes, and even otters diving for food in the bays along the trail. This walk is a flat, paved path that is wheelchair accessible.

A free “LGBTQ+ Professional Networking Mixer” will be held on February 29 from 5-7 p.m. at Fatsy Cline’s Parlor Lounge, 129 Second St., Eureka.
This event is designed to provide an open and welcoming environment for all members of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as friends, allies, and business professionals who value diversity and inclusion.
