(CBS Detroit) – The National Business League’s Dr. Kenneth Harris will be speaking on “Michigan Matters” this Sunday about his three-year supplier audit that helped Black suppliers win more than $100 million in new business with companies in Detroit and beyond. Talk about the program.
Dr. Harris, president and CEO of the 123-year-old trade association founded by civil rights leader, businessman, and educator Booker T. Washington, joins NBL’s Dr. Forrest Carter Appears with Stellantis’ Gregory Hawkins.

The show is in celebration of Black History Month, which takes place in February.
Dr. Carter will oversee NBL’s National Black Supplier Development Program, explaining the importance of elevating and empowering Black-owned suppliers and supporting communities.
Stellantis is sponsoring a sold-out NBL event held Tuesday at the Detroit Athletic Club, featuring speakers and panels highlighting issues affecting Black suppliers. Other companies include DTE Energy, Ford, General Motors, Comerica Bank, Cummins, Lear Corporation, Toyota Motor Company, and Magna Corporation.

The show’s focus then shifted to the empowerment of women and minorities in Metro Detroit, with Nancy Tellem, who started Bus Blue in Detroit, appearing alongside Rays owner Tamika Mays and Bus Blue board member Ping Ho. Let’s discuss. Bas Blue’s nonprofit Zero-to-One program supports underrepresented female entrepreneurs in Detroit.
The program is helping 10 small business owners develop their businesses.
